A: What’s exactly your background story?
C: I am from Boise Idaho, I moved to California when I was 18 to play soccer in college. I graduated with a marketing degree and my first job was working in a cubicle doing marketing which made me realize there was more to life for me than these cubicle walls. Thats what drove me to follow my passion on hairstyling and go back to school for my Cosmetology License.
A: When did you know that you wanted to become a hairstylist?
C: I had always done hair, ever since I was little. I was always braiding, twisting, cutting and coloring hair. So it was just a matter of time that it fit into my life. After I graduated College and was working in Marketing, I did some soul searching a realized the industry a saw myself in and how I would fit in. That was how I made the decision to become a hairstylist.
A: How did you go from a starter to a celebrity hairstylist?
C: I started assisting right out of Cosmetology school. I assisted as many people as I could and I tried to be as observant as possible. There are so many avenues and elements to the hairstyling industry so it was important to me to find just where I fit in. Assisting celebrity hairstylists is what boosted me into being a celebrity hairstylist.
A: Who was the first celebrity that you did his/her hair?
C: When I was assisting we did tons of celebrities, so I was used to that world. But I think the first few people I styled on my own were Kendall Jenner, Lily Aldridge, Lily Collins and Olivia Culpo!
A: What key trend do you think will dominate 2018?
C: Thick head bands and scrunchies!
A: What is your typical day like?
C: No two days are ever alike. I am always running around everywhere. I always start my day with coffee and emails, then it kind of takes off from there From Housecalls, photo shoots, salon clients to errands, meetings and emails theres never enough hours in the day! I always feel so much better squeezing in a sweat sesh and I know its cliche LA but I’m a sucker for a good Green Juice or Immune boosting shot!
A: How do you suggest women find the best style or cut for their face?
C: It is important to determine your face shape as well as paying attention to your facial features. Once you have found your face shape I always suggest Googling celebrities with the same face shape and seeing the types of haircuts they sport!
A: What are one-thing women do wrong with their hair?
C: Using the wrong shampoo and conditioner for their hair type. It is important to realize what your root needs and what your ends need. For example, a lot of people have an oily root and dry ends, so its important to care for your hair accordingly!
A: What are your goals for the future?
C: My goal is to continue grinding, working hard and being kind, one hairstyle at a time!
A: Have you ever visited Cyprus or Greece?
C: I haven’t made it to either yet but I have been dying to go and want to get over there as soon as possible!!!
